Depression

There are a wide range of symptoms and severity when it comes to depression, often varying from person to person. Depression causes us to feel sad and empty, negatively impacting our thoughts and physical health. Daily activities may feel impossible such as getting out of bed, bathing, and dressing. You may struggle to find joy in activities you once enjoyed, and feelings of numbness and hopelessness may result in a change of your daily routine as things take more effort than they used to. Depression can be caused by a stressful or traumatic event such as death of a loved one, divorce, violence, or chronic illness, or you may find it difficult to explain the source of your depression. Brain chemistry plays a major role in depression and is an important factor in seeking help and determining treatment.
