Amy Jo Secker, LPC Associate

Ages 18+, Couples · Grief & Loss · Relationships · Life Transitions

Amy Jo is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas, supervised by Mark E. Hundley, M.Ed., LPC-S. She completed her Masters degree in Counseling at Southern Methodist University and holds a Bachelors in Spanish from Texas Tech University. Prior to working in the mental health field, she taught high school Spanish in the DFW area. Amy Jo offers counseling for adults and couples, and she specializes in grief and loss, relationship dynamics, life transitions, anxiety, and depression.

Approaching counseling through an Adlerian lens, Amy Jo aims to help individuals make connections and see patterns in their personal history that allow them a clearer view of the present, giving them an opportunity to grow. For her, the therapeutic relationship is paramount, and Amy Jo strives to foster a supportive, non-judgmental space for clients. She desires to provide a space that feels both warm and secure, one in which clients feel comfortable to take risks and explore difficult topics.

Widowed at a young age with small children, Amy Jo relied on her faith, the support of others, and counseling to walk through the fog of grief. She later had the privilege of working with individuals who had lost loved ones as a group leader in Grief Share. Now, she is part of a big, blended family, with all the challenges, along with all the joy. These experiences have given her a passion for sitting alongside others who have experienced loss and who are wanting to reimagine a new life.

Amy Jo is married and has two fluffy labradoodles. Outside the office, she loves to cheer for her children on the sports field and play Mahjong. She is a member of the American Counseling Association.

Kelly Feddern, LCSW

Ages 4+, Grief · Eating Disorders · Addiction · Family Systems · Pediatric Behavioral Disorders

Kelly Feddern, LCSW received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Baylor University and continued her education, obtaining her master’s degree in social work from Texas A&M Commerce.  She has been practicing social work for nearly two decades, 13 of those years at Children’s Medical Center in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.  She is passionate about supporting individuals of all ages experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, trauma, addiction, disordered eating, and complex family dynamics.

Kelly specializes in empowering individuals to evolve into the best version of themselves.  She enjoys helping people develop valuable coping skills to walk through challenging chapters in their life.  She believes each person is unique and strives to create a positive, safe, and therapeutic space to discover one’s value and worth.  Her goal is to promote authenticity and vulnerability that leads to personal transformation.

So often we suppress uncomfortable or big feelings in efforts to protect ourselves from feeling isolated or less than.  We carry a smile on our face, masking the internal pain we are silently carrying.  Over time, this leads to stagnate personal growth and increased emotional and physical distress.  Each person has a sacred story to tell and with that story comes emotions that can be overwhelming. Kelly is honored to walk with you each step of the way as you are present in your story and make meaning of past experiences and current feelings.  Through this you can evolve into your truest and healthiest self.

In her free time Kelly enjoys teaching Jazzercise to the Lake Highlands community, spending time with her sweet and sassy daughters, watching black and white movies with her husband, and “reading” aka listening to mystery and thriller books.

Maddie McLemore, LPC Associate

Ages 12+, Eating Disorders · Athletes · Addiction · Relationship Work · Identity Exploration

Maddie received her bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin in Health and Society, and continued her education, obtaining her master’s degree in counseling from Southern Methodist University. Maddie’s educational and personal experience has sparked her passion for working with eating disorders, having spent much of her time in graduate school working in various ED treatment center settings as well as, addiction, athletes, relationship work, and identity exploration. She is currently working toward becoming a certified eating disorder specialist (CED-S) and licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC).

Maddie believes that individual problems stem from difficulty in adapting to change to our norms both in our internal functioning and our relationships with others. This can often make one feel as though they are stuck with no way out despite their greatest efforts. Through intentionality in shifting how we view and address change, she believes that one can discover more effective solutions to create change. Maddie believes that the true work of counseling can be uncomfortable at times, but will lead to immense self-discovery. Maddie views her role as a counselor is to help provide a safe space for clients to create and practice new ways of addressing change in their lives within the context of their relationships and values.

Maddie values diversity in her practice, as she cares deeply about providing the most effective therapy for each client, regardless of gender and race/ethnicity. As she sharpens her clinical skills, she specializes in working with adolescents 12+ and adult individuals struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, addictions, athletes, identity exploration, and relationship work. Morton Nixon, LPC

Ages 18+, Work Issues · Perfectionism · Shame · Parenting · Burnout · Navigating Relationships

Morton Nixon, LPC received his masters in counseling from SMU, after a major career change from a decade in corporate sales. It took having a child (as well as a good therapist and a supportive spouse) to finally realize that you do not have to settle for being unfulfilled at work. Since then, he has been working in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs and loving it.

Morton works with adults who are struggling with living life. Often that takes shape as anxiety, depression, shame, overthinking, low self-worth, perfectionism, work stress, parenting problems, life transitions, and recovering from new or old traumas. There are options in our lives that we do not have the perspective to see and parts of ourselves that we have cut off to fit someone else’s mold. Morton enjoys helping clients feel more secure and authentic so they can be more of who they are.

Morton helps clients with practical tools like effective communication, emotional coping, and boundary setting. At the same time, he helps clients to put those skills in the bigger context of their lives, what gives them meaning and purpose. He is honored to partner with clients in exploring their stories to understand how they got to where they are and how they want to write the next chapter. He provides a secure place for clients to ask the big questions about their lives without getting lost along the way. Morton has a direct, non-judgmental, empathetic, and humorous style in therapy.

When he is not doing therapy, you can find Morton with his family either attending kids’ soccer games, doing art projects, or just getting baby snuggles. He invests most of his free time with his wife, 3 kids, and new sheepadoodle puppy. He also loves stories in all forms from movies and TV to books and podcasts. He loves to connect with people over whatever they are passionate about.

Stacy Henry, LCSW

Ages 12+, Grief & Loss · Complex Family Dynamics · Caregiving · Foster Care/Adoption

Stacy Henry, LCSW received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and continued her education, obtaining her master’s degree in social work from University of Texas-Arlington. She began her career as a social worker working for a faith-based, inner-city ministry, where she developed a deep passion for serving and supporting individuals far beyond material needs. The majority of Stacy’s decade plus social work career to follow was spent in the outpatient setting at Children’s Medical Center, providing long-term support to families caring for children with significant medical complexities. Throughout her career, Stacy has also had the privilege of working with victims of domestic violence and those walking through complex pregnancies and infant loss.

Stacy is passionate about meeting people right where they are at, taking the time to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship. Stacy specializes in treating individuals with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, interpersonal conflict, and complex family dynamics. Stacy has experience supporting individuals who are caregiving for a loved one, as well as those walking through the foster care and/or adoption process. Using a variety of treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI) and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), Stacy works alongside clients providing them with the insight and tools to move forward in their current season of life.

Oftentimes we assume everyone around us is doing well and we convince ourselves that we are the only ones struggling, which can leave us hesitant to seek support. Stacy highly values the courage, transparency, and vulnerability that it takes to enter a therapeutic relationship. Through partnering together, Stacy hopes to help her clients find moments of hope and joy, even in the depths of angst and despair. Stacy’s focus is not to “fix” the situation, but rather to empower her clients to have the tools they need to move toward health and healing.

Outside of work, Stacy enjoys spending time with her children, traveling with her husband (when he plans every detail) and serving within the women’s ministry at her church. Stacy’s family has recently had the privilege of supporting children and families involved in the foster care system, which they hope to continue for years to come.
