Morton Nixon, LPC

Ages 18+, Work Issues · Perfectionism · Shame · Parenting · Burnout · Navigating Relationships

Morton Nixon, LPC received his masters in counseling from SMU, after a major career change from a decade in corporate sales. It took having a child (as well as a good therapist and a supportive spouse) to finally realize that you do not have to settle for being unfulfilled at work. Since then, he has been working in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs and loving it.

Morton works with adults who are struggling with living life. Often that takes shape as anxiety, depression, shame, overthinking, low self-worth, perfectionism, work stress, parenting problems, life transitions, and recovering from new or old traumas. There are options in our lives that we do not have the perspective to see and parts of ourselves that we have cut off to fit someone else’s mold. Morton enjoys helping clients feel more secure and authentic so they can be more of who they are.

Morton helps clients with practical tools like effective communication, emotional coping, and boundary setting. At the same time, he helps clients to put those skills in the bigger context of their lives, what gives them meaning and purpose. He is honored to partner with clients in exploring their stories to understand how they got to where they are and how they want to write the next chapter. He provides a secure place for clients to ask the big questions about their lives without getting lost along the way. Morton has a direct, non-judgmental, empathetic, and humorous style in therapy.

When he is not doing therapy, you can find Morton with his family either attending kids’ soccer games, doing art projects, or just getting baby snuggles. He invests most of his free time with his wife, 3 kids, and new sheepadoodle puppy. He also loves stories in all forms from movies and TV to books and podcasts. He loves to connect with people over whatever they are passionate about.
