Maddie McLemore, LPC Associate

Ages 12+, Eating Disorder · Addiction · Athletes · Relationship Work · Identity Exploration

Maddie received her bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin in Health and Society, and continued her education, obtaining her master’s degree in counseling from Southern Methodist University. Maddie’s educational and personal experience has sparked her passion for working with eating disorders, having spent much of her time in graduate school working in various ED treatment center settings as well as, addiction, athletes, relationship work, and identity exploration. She is currently working toward becoming a certified eating disorder specialist (CED-S) and licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC).

Maddie believes that individual problems stem from difficulty in adapting to change to our norms both in our internal functioning and our relationships with others. This can often make one feel as though they are stuck with no way out despite their greatest efforts. Through intentionality in shifting how we view and address change, she believes that one can discover more effective solutions to create change. Maddie believes that the true work of counseling can be uncomfortable at times, but will lead to immense self-discovery. Maddie views her role as a counselor is to help provide a safe space for clients to create and practice new ways of addressing change in their lives within the context of their relationships and values.

Maddie values diversity in her practice, as she cares deeply about providing the most effective therapy for each client, regardless of gender and race/ethnicity. As she sharpens her clinical skills, she specializes in working with adolescents 12+ and adult individuals struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, addictions, athletes, identity exploration, and relationship work. Maddie offers counseling in-person or via telehealth. In her free time, she enjoys trying new coffee shops, burning candles, reading Nextdoor neighborhood app tea, watching gymnastics, and all things Texas football.
