Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy provides clients with new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships.  This therapy often confronts contradictions between self-acceptance and necessary positive change. DBT specifically focuses on providing therapeutic skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is often used with those struggling with borderline personality disorder, self-destruction, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and emotional regulation.

How can DBT help you?

DBT often involves positive change in emotional regulation and learning new coping skills.  The goal of DBT is to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.
