Emma Porter, LPC, PMH-C, PCD(DONA), CBE

Ages 18+, EMDR trained • Perinatal • Adoption • Parenting • Attachment • Women’s Issues

Emma Porter is a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated with her undergrad from Texas A&M. She received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health from Texas Woman’s University. From an early age, she felt drawn to helping children. Over time, in her personal and professional life, she came to understand that one of the most influential ways to impact a child is by supporting their mother.

She specializes in perinatal mental health, parenting, adoption, and women’s issues. While working with women during these transformational periods, Emma uses a direct and approachable method. She strives to create a space that feels free from judgement, while also encouraging self-reflection and meaningful change. Her clinical approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed and she incorporates EMDR to support clients in processing and healing from past experiences. She focuses on the ways that early relationships shape how we see ourselves, connect with others, and move through life’s transitions.

In addition to counseling, Emma provides education around childbirth and the postpartum period, as a Certified Postpartum Doula and Certified Childbirth Educator. Her main goal is to help clients better understand the emotional and psychological realities of these vulnerable transitions. She has also helped many families navigate through the joys and complexities of open adoption. She is certified in “Circle of Security”, where she helps parents learn how to build secure attachment with their children by reflecting on their own upbringing. She is also certified in Gottman’s *Bringing Baby Home* program, which supports couples in maintaining connection and promoting teamwork during the transition into parenthood.

Emma believes that we can only grow as much as we are willing to face ourselves. She often emphasizes the importance of self-respect and the willingness to look inward with compassion. She also reminds clients of the “power of AND”, where experiences can be painful and meaningful, all at the same time. Clients often come to Emma seeking clarity around their choices, beliefs and patterns, and leave with a stronger sense of self-understanding, increased confidence in their decisions, and a deeper ability to extend themselves grace.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling the world with her husband and daughter, or simply sitting on a patio with chips and salsa. She would describe herself as whimsical, passionate, free-spirited and deeply dedicated to the people she cares about.
